This semester I've been involved in Kelly's research group called Data Visceralization in the Digital + Media Department here at RISD. The seven of us, made up of graduate students from RISD and Brown are working on a group performance called The Energy Propagated. We are each building apparatuses to demonstrate long time scale using light, sound or other energy. This is our video of our works in progress. We've submitted it to this year's International Symposium on Electronic Art in Vancouver, Canada. You can find more about the project here.
Cho-Tao Huang and I have been working on a Collaborative Study Project here at RISD. The name of our study is Transmigrational Animacy of Objects Research. We have added our work as a contribution to The Energy Propagated Project.
The purpose of this work is to investigate human imaginary companionship, how attribution of conscious life to other things changes over the human life cycle, and how a familiar relationship with a series of objects is sustained by a form of transmigration. The project postulates that a sustained relationship with a convivial being can persist across multiple platforms.
Below is a video of our progress.
